Albums
The discography of the American rock band Toto includes 13 studio albums, four live albums, as well as a number of compilations. Toto has released original music and collaborated with other artists on soundtracks and films. The group has won a number of Grammy Awards for their work.
Before the formation of Toto, band members did sessions for other musicians. David Paich, the son of session drummer Marty Paich, and Jeff Porcaro (the brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro and drummer Jeff Porcaro) all played on Boz Scaggs’ 1975 album Silk Degrees. Toto was formed in the year 1976 as a result of the collaboration.
Toto's third album, Turn Back, marked an abrupt departure from the progressive sound of their previous albums and was criticized for its absence of hit singles. In 1985, singer Fergie Frederiksen quit the group The group held auditions for the new frontman. 토토 꽁머니 was chosen, and the band recorded the 1986 album Fahrenheit.
Toto released Toto XX in 1998 to mark its 20th anniversary. The band dug through old tapes and recordings to create the special record. The album was a hit by fans and the band went on a tour that featured former members Bobby Kimball, Steve Porcaro, and Joseph Williams.
While touring for the album 40 Trips Around the Sun, drummer Leland Sklar departed from the group and was replaced by Shem von Schroeck. In 2017, Toto released the double-CD set Falling in Between. It included recordings from the tour and also an interview with the group.

During the tour, lead vocalist Bobby Kimball was arrested on drug charges. After the tour, the band decided to let him go and hire guitarist/singer Joseph Williams to take his place. David Hungate, the drummer was also let go after the tour. He was replaced by bassist Leland Sklar.

The track "Africa" is from the album Toto IV. The song was written by band members and was produced by David Paich. It was a huge success in Europe as well as other countries. The success of the single helped Toto to regain their fame after their previous album Turn Back failed to chart in America.
Following the release of the album, Toto went on a world tour. The group featured touring musicians Lenny Castro and Shannon Forrest. Warren Ham, Shem von Schröeck and Shem von Schroeck also were part of the group. Steve Lukather also released his second solo album, Luke.
In 1985 the drummer Fergie Frederiksen resigned from Toto due to personal reasons. The group decided to conduct an audition and ultimately chose Joseph Williams to replace Frederiksen.
Prior to and during the creation of Toto, its members did session work for various artists. Drummer Jeff Porcaro and bassist David Hungate performed on the album Silk Degrees by Boz Scaggs which led to Toto's formation. Paich played keyboards on Steely Dan records, Seals and Crofts and Sonny and Cher.
In 1998, Toto started working on an album titled Old Is New. The album featured three brand new tracks as well as several finished recordings of songs from the past. The album was a huge success across the globe and the band embarked on a worldwide tour to promote it.
